what is book swapping?
56If your a book lover like i am, the kind of book reader that likes to keep their favorite reads and not just go to the library then book swapping is definitely for you. the two post popular sites are www.paperbackswap.com and www.bookmooch.com. All you have to do is post on the website the books that you don't want to keep anymore, when someone requests one of your books it gives you a point that you can use to order any other book you want from all the other members.
Now there are some differences between the sits. On paper back swap, with the first ten books you post the site gives you two free credits to start ordering books. You have to send out a book with in a few days or you don't received your point, and you don't receive your point until they have marked the book as received. For a book that you want but isn't available yet can be added to your wish list. When the book becomes available it is given in the order it is wished on. If your 100 out of 369 it may take a while depending on how many are being traded weekly but you will get one eventually. It will sometimes give you an estimated time on wait till it is your turn. There are some guide lines on the condition of the book, if it doesn't meet the sites requirements or the receiver has a problem, you will not get your point.
Now book mooch works a little differently. On this site you get a tenth of a point for every book you post, which can add up over time. Books that you have are on you wish list are all first come first serve. For ex: If there are 12 people who want the same book, you get the email saying it is available and if your the first person to respond to that email then you get the book first. When it comes to sending a book it doesn't have to be with in a few days, which can be good for the sender if they don't have the money right away but can be a downside for the person waiting for the book. You can mark the book as WILL SEND SOON or WILL BE DELAYED and you let the person know how long it will be till you send it out. This site is more lenient on the condition of the book all you have to do it is fill out the condition section of the book posting to let other members know if there is any writing in it etc.
Both sites are free and in cost an average of $3.00 to send out a book if you do it under media. So essentially you are getting a new book to read for around three bucks since for neither sites you pay for a book you want. You only pay to send out a book to some one else.
